The 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 Adventure Tourer
Following on from the Thai release of the nifty Suzuki DL650 V-twin a few weeks back, Suzuki has internationally previewed its big brother, the Suzuki DL1000 (V-Strom 1000), an adventure tourer. Gone is the edgy styling, replaced by more rounded look, previewed by the Suzuki V-Strom 650 DL650. It is powered by a completely redesigned liquid-cooled 1037cc V-twin good for 74kW and 103Nm torque. The latter peaking at 4,000rpm, for ease of use.The new Suzuki V-Strom 1000 features a lightweight aluminum frame, heavily padded seat and a adjustable windscreen for comfortable long distance riding. Kerb weight is quoted at a touring-friendly 228kg.
Radial front brakes are under ABS control, and traction control ensures peace-of-mind riding. Fully adjustable suspension consists of upsidedown forks at the front and an easy-to-tweak monoshock for the rear.
